David, your brothers built some of the cleanest rides around. Much respect.

I know it's a little different era...but do you have any pics of your bro's convertible Impala?

the lowriders I remember were cars that got drivin.
although my brother loves this 2nd 65 show car, he says he would trade it for the 1st one in a min.
the orange 65 got alot of miles on it before it went to Japan.
I remember one summer day, I was about 19years old, I asked if I could take the chevy cruzing , my brother was working nights and didn't drive the chevy much cuze he got a new car.
I asked him for months if I could take the car to San Fernando to cruze the mall. ( 10 points if anyone here remebers the S.F. mall cruzing days)
    Abel aways said NO!
one friday night I almost didn't ask, but what the hell I did.
    he said O.K.!
I had a smike a mile wide all night.
I washed it, and picked up by buddie Joe who could not believe we were going to S.F. in one of the baddest rides in the valley . the girls were throwing themselfs at the car, not us! but what the hell!
I can't believe I said no to the girls that wanted a ride, I was scared they would mess up the upholstery and my brother would kill me. Joe was pissed, we were sure to get laid that night if I let them ride but it didn't happen.
Joe and I curzed untill everyone in the mall went home, then we went to IN-N-OUT on Laurel cyn. I was scrared to walk away from the car and shouted my order to Joe.
we drove home slow, I didn't want the night to end becuase who knows if Abel would let me drive it again.
he did but there is never a night like the 1st one.

this is what I remember about lowriding, the warm summer air coming thru the windows, the moonroof open and oldies playing on the stereo.
NOT the competition for show points like today.
these show cars never get driven, maybe on and off the trailer but thats all, then they drive a honda to work.

hahhha the San Fer mall. Only good place to get your dickies and levis was Peoples (gone now) and to get your tux or zoot suit. No one cruised that spot by the time I was old enough. I was told that they cruised Brand Blvd too by the Mission at on point. By my time we cruised, the canyon (Laurel Cyn) was our only outlet. Great memories and some bad ones too.

I can't offer enough thanks for the stories that go with the pictures.

Since I grew up in the midwest, stories from dudes like yourself are my only true connection to learn about how things were back in the day.

Thanks again for sharing that shit and huge props to your brothers for their vision and skills.

Yep. That's my era too. Cruzin "The Canyon" was the shit back in the day. Remember all the girls using the payphones at the Mobile station on Laurel Canyon and San Fernando Mission? Remember the empty lot at Laurel Canyon and Fox St, across the street from the highschool? I did alot of painting there between '92 and 95'.

Durring that time the Canyon was full of EVERY type of car. Alot of crazy mini trucks from the club Colors of Sucess. And lifted toyotas from High Rollers out of Sylmar. Then you had the vatos from BPF(brown pride familia). They were basically a fucking gang with nice ass regals, cutlass, and montes. Those vatos would get out of their cars right there in the middle of traffic to scrap. Some dude got stabbed in his car at Nacho's on Brand(now a Taco Bell ).

DUDE, Peoples. Remember the HUGE pants on the wall? They had to be size 70 or something. My grandpa used to take us shopping for school clothes at Peoples.
